Summer Lovin’

Me, every summer

For all of the wonderful things that summer is (excessive heat, sunshine, flash rainstorms, etc), I want to enjoy every second of it. More so this year, and I don’t know why. But I guess that happens every summer, doesn’t it?

Each year as June rolls around, I like to imagine myself living the summer of my dreams: wandering around the city, dining outdoors, taking pictures (because I like being Instagram-vain), and visiting popular local landmarks I’ve yet been to. Such as, the CN Tower: I always think of visiting the CN Tower, and then never make the effort to fulfill that visit. Oh well. One of these days I will… (Preferably on a date, hint hint.)

There are times when I decide to take serious action on a summer goal–that is, if it’s something I’ve really wanted, and perhaps was building up to for years*–but most of the time I’d rather just fly by the seat of my pants and do something spontaneous. Or if I’m lucky, spontaneity will find me.

That being said, the summer doesn’t always shape up the way I want it to. Much like the weather, it can unpredictable. Things happen, and sometimes I am forced to reroute and go in the opposite direction. And when it happens, I just have to go with the flow.

I have no idea what the summer has in store for me this year: my older sister and her budding family will be coming in from Australia this weekend to visit for a few months, so that’s guaranteed to be full of unpredictably. And noise.

But whatever happens, hopefully it will be fun, and hopefully I will be closer to having that glorious summer I’ve always envisioned.

I saw Beautiful, the Carole King Story musical last week. Good show! So naturally, I had to include this fine hit about someone who is not having such a good summer.

*I’m pleased to say that I fiiiiiinally got my hair coloured last month. I’m blonde…Er!
